dinky

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 27, 2026

dinky is built to be private by default. Your notes live on your device. We do not read them, sell them, or send them anywhere.

Made with Best Practice LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the dinky mobile application (the "App"). This page explains what data is collected when you use dinky, why, and what choices you have.

1. What We Collect

Notes and content

Your notes are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to the content of your notes at any time.

Device identifier

dinky generates a random device identifier stored securely on your device. This identifier is used for anonymous crash reporting and analytics, and to tell our purchase provider which install owns an unlock. It is not your device serial, your Apple or Google account, or an advertising identifier, and it is never linked to your identity.

Purchase information

If you buy the one-time unlock, the App Store or Google Play processes the payment and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to verify the purchase and restore it on your other devices; RevenueCat receives the anonymous app user ID above, the product and transaction identifiers, and basic device and store metadata. It does not receive your name, your email address, or your notes.

Crash and diagnostic data

If the app crashes, we collect anonymized crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics. These reports include device type, operating system version, and a stack trace. They do not include your notes or any personally identifiable information. Crash collection is disabled in debug builds.

Usage analytics

We collect anonymized usage data through Firebase Analytics — events such as app opens and session duration — to understand how the app is used and improve it. No note content is ever included. Analytics collection is disabled in debug builds.

2. Permissions

dinky requests the following permissions to function:

3. How We Use Data

The limited data we collect is used only to:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving dinky.

4. Third-Party Services

dinky uses the following third-party services, each subject to their own privacy policies:

These services do not have access to your notes.

5. Data Retention

Your notes remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Anonymized crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention policies. We do not store any personal data on our own servers.

6. Security

Notes stay local on your device. Device identity material is stored with platform secure storage, and crash reports are transmitted over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we apply reasonable measures to protect the data we do handle.

7. Children's Privacy

dinky is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us.

8. Your Rights

Because your notes never leave your device, you have full control over them at all times — edit, export, or delete them within the app. For anonymized crash and analytics data held by Firebase, you may contact us and we will assist where possible. Depending on your location, you may also have rights under applicable privacy law including access, correction, and deletion.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
